Caramelo

Past Monday (to be exact it was March 26, 2012) was the Birthday of one of Jayson's best friends: Ivonne. We wanted to go to a nice place to celebrate and eat. After a while of thinking and going around in the car (internal joke haha), we made the unanimous decision (with the help of an I-Phone haha) and went to Caramelo.

Caramelo, is a very cute artsy restaurant located in the town of Guaynabo (San Juan area). With a variety of affordable food on their menu, adding nice service & atmosphere we found THE perfect place to celebrate. We drank Sangrías, sang Happy Birthday and ate dessert! Anyone located near this area or in Puerto Rico should give it a try.

Here are some photos.

Thanks for all your lovely comments and visits! Until next post!

My Names is Memory

One of my recent additions to my growing collection of books is from the writer / author of the famous series The Siterhood of the Traveling Pants: Ann Brashares and its called My Name is Memory.

I thought the title was simple and beautiful and caught my attention. It’s about this soul who calls himself Daniel that has reincarnated from time to time falling in love with the same girl (who he calls Sophia, but her name and physical appearance changes every time he encounters her). Daniel has the ability, the memory to remember every moment and feeling of his pasts life’s, but most important, he know’s how to recognize souls (how awesome would that be!). Sadly and heartbreaking enough, throughout he’s many years of life, Sophia and Daniel have been torn apart and no happy ending’s have been lived between them. With a passion and patience that a person in love only knows about, Daniel waits for her in every life. Hoping that Sophia one day will recognize him as well.

I recommend this book to all those romantic girls (or boys =D) out there! This is a very heartfelt and powerful story of true love. And its a series which makes me very happy!

I used photos I've taken to write some of my favorite quotes of the book:

PS: ST. Louis Missouri, 1932 is one of my favorite chapters <3.
On the version I have, is from page 202 −204.

Until next post!

Girl About Town

HELLO WORLD*

Today I decided to wear two of my favorite pieces of my wardrobe for Spring: my Mint Knitted Sweater and white/black Polka-Dots Shorts . I know! I know! I'm having a polka-dot overdose recently but I can't help it haha (you can see more dotted looks here and here). So... to glam up this casual look I used a hot pink lipstick from MAC, Girl About Town is the name (in case anyone's interested).  The sky high heels are from Bakers, they are super awesome for Spring time, perfect tones of green and blue and only $19 thank you very much! The super huge earrings are from a small store located in Caguas (for all the local girls from Puerto Rico) it's called D'Amis. They have very adorable accessories and dresses!

Tomorrow I will post a beautiful wedding (one of my favorites) at my NM Photos  Blog!
Very excited!

Hope all of you are having a great week.

Hues of Blues

In the past days, here on my beautiful Little Island, has been raining and raining. What happened to the beautiful “Spring” days? haha Like in many other posts I have written, I like when it rains. Especially when it’s too hot to bear! I decided to wear something that was comfortable for a rainy day, but yet wearable and fun for Spring.

My blue parka / rain coat (I don’t know how to call it =P) is from F21. I wanted one for a very looooong time. Apart from the accessories (round sunnies, necklaces & bracelets) it gives the outfit a different look, it’s the special piece of the outfit! This striped top was a purchase I did at F21( as seen in my First Day at Sea post). I kept it colorful with different tones of blues, turquoise bag and red lips.

I have a lot of work with some photos I’m editing! Please stop by my Photography Blog NM Photos and check it out! I have new posts coming this week! Hope every single one of you are having a great Sunday! For any questions write to my email: agirlnamednydia@gmail.com

And may the odds be ever in your favor!

I love books.
Good books.
Big or tiny books.

Just the experience of reading fragments, ideas, and creations of other people's mind is fascinating. Somedays I wake up with a desire, the urge of reading something new. So I go to Amazon and/or GoodReads and spent hours looking: covers, reviews, rates... until I find one that catches my attention. (I’m not yet taking the next step and buying a kindle, I love having the book. It fills up my bookshelves! haha)

Without knowing who wrote it, if its an famous author or not, if it's good or bad literature. If it’s sounds interesting, I pay for it and wait until it arrives to start reading it....

Sometimes this works for me, and sometimes it doesn't... But the whole experience is worth trying. How can YOU difference good from bad, if you don't know both, right?

On September 2010, I wanted to buy a book to read on my airplane trip to Orlando. I went to Borders (when it existed) and after 12 minutes of searching I picked up a black hardcover book with a golden bird on the front, and was named by the author:  The Hunger Games....

At that moment I didn't realized the incredible book I was holding in my fingertips until I started reading it...

The Hunger Games is the first book of a trilogy created by north-american author Suzanne Collins. This book was released in 2008 (kinda mad I didn’t noticed it sooner, but better sooner than never) and has been acclaimed as a New York Times Best Seller, praised by Time Magazine and by Stephen King author of the Pet Sematary, Insomnia, 1408, Green Mile, and many others books.

The second book is called Catching Fire which I finished in less than two days and the the third is Mockingjay. Jayson (boyfriend) gifted me this book for our 9 month relationship celebration. It made me sad to read this one. I didn’t want this amazing story to be over!

I love every detail of these books.
The cover.
The feeling of the pages.
Typography.
The characters and their names.
The scenery.
But most important.. the story behind it.

I'm not like Katniss Everdeen (principal character) in any shape or form, but somehow I can identify with her. It’s so weirdly amazing how I can suffer and understand every feeling she ever had (it's kinda weird she doesn't exist, but that's the magic of novels and fiction stories...)

The book talks about starvation, oppression, revolution, war,  romance, bravery, entertainment vs. humanity. How sometimes us, people, society, humans find entertainment in others suffering! Like in a article that I read recently it also demonstrates : "society’s celebration of vanity and indifference to violence .... and inescapable obsession with watching people destroy themselves and each other.” It’s a powerful and inspiring story. Really unique and incredible!

I assure you... you wont be disappointed. If you like reading,  and open minded, give it a try.

I just hope the movie is just as good, or makes the story justice. So excited for tonight! My boyfriend and some of our friends are going to watch it together. Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss) apart from being so ridiculously beautiful, she's really a good actress. I'm hoping she does an amazing job on this film and the others ones to come.

OH! And one more thing.... : never judge a book by its cover,

Literately!

All set to see the movie! =D

A Great Sky

Some pictures of a dog who I wished was mine and a beautiful inspirational pastel colored sky!

Mylow is my fiancee’s family dog. I’m so in love with him.
He’s just too lovable and photogenic! Ins’t he adorable!?

Now, more about my look!

I bought this polka dot top for only 5$ (yeah!) Hey, if it’s pretty and it fits, why not!? I wore the top with my pair of HM jeans; I wanted to keep a casual look (I rarely wear jeans, and believe when i say this is unusual for me =P haha). I really do like how the accessories make the look a more unique. The rounded sunglasses, aqua blue necklace and pink clutch are the perfect touch.

Thank you Jay for my JS ballerina flats <3
I love how Mylow  figures out a way to be in every photo.
Jay & Me ( I had to upload this photo! Is one of my favorites!)

PS: I have taken the last few days to make some slight changes to the blog.
I hope that you like the more colorful style of it.
Do you like it? What do you think!? Let me know =D

Until next post,

Color me for Spring

So TODAY the calendar creators and weather experts say that Spring officially started! So in the name of colors, flowers a wonderful sunny days I welcome one of my favorites seasons with a nautical outfit!

Like in my How high can you go?  post, for this outfit, I was inspired by nautical colors (it doesn’t matter if it’s in trend or not =P, it’s too fun & pretty to not wear it during this time of year).

In this outfit, I styled my Zara bright yellow top with my short high waisted skirt and blazer from Forever 21. I’ve missed wearing red on the lips so I put on some Ruby Woo lipstick, clubmaster Ray Ban sunnies and there you go... my complete outfit for the first day of Spring (if feel likes spring since February here haha)!

Hope you enjoy my post (s)

Until the next one!

Dots

"I thought I understood it. But I didn't. I knew the smudgeness of it.
The eagerness of it. The Idea of it. Of you and me.”

Anna - Like Crazy

It’s like 2AM and I just finished watching the movie Like Crazy. I loved it! Its a very realistic movie in a  sad and beautiful way. For those who haven’t seen it, I recommend it! The photography in the movie is beautiful as well.

Anyway... Now that I’m here I wanted to make most of it and post some outfit photos (what an excuse! haha =D).

I adore this Forever 21 shear polka dot top. It’s very versatile! You can dress it up or down like I did in the photos below. I paired it with white denim shorts, camel colored wedges and colorful accessories. It's a simple assemble, nice to go out with friends grab a bite and just relax <3. On the many posts to come your gonna see asymmetric pieces, colors, flower print & polkadots. Not all together but in different pieces! I’m very excited to show all of you!

Have a very nice Friday everyone!

Movement

When it comes to feeling comfortable, a light and cute outfit will do the trick! A loose snake print top, my black asymmetric skirt as seen in my Red and Pink post , wedges and a little bit of color with a teal green fedora hat made an awesome outfit for a Tuesday afternoon. Styling asymmetric skirts can sometimes become a challenge, but keeping it simple with the other pieces of the outfit and choosing cool accesories to compliment the look make the outfit fun and wearable.

Hopefully today I will run some errands with Jay (buy some new goodies for the apartment =D), take new outfit photos and lay down at the couch and watch American Idol (my guilty pleasure haha ...)

Thanks to all of you out their for visiting & following my blog. Keep you posted!

Waterfall

On one of my past posts: Long sleeved & cute collars , I wrote about some dresses I wanted to post about. So here is one of them! A mint colored layered dress from F21.

I love the waterfall effect, but what I adore most is the color. It’s so feminine and pretty. I’m so happy this is the trend color for Spring season. I styled this dress with my fav bright pink blazer from Zara and leopard sandals. I little bit of pink lips and a gold belt to accentuate waist, and their you have it: a simple, but yet colorful spring look!

PS: While writing this post the only thing I hear sitting here on my bed is the rain falling. I can here the puddles of water forming, sound of each drop of water when hits the windows, walls and ground. For me... it sounds so calming. I must say, I've missed the rain. Sometimes I really do like gray skies (in comparison to the 80% of sunny days here at Puerto Rico). They somehow define feelings or how a day is going to turn out... For example here I am reading The Umbecoming of Mara Dyer, eating hershey kisses and feeling cozy all wrapped-up with my blanket. Sometimes we need those moments in life. Just to feel happy doing “nothing”.

Until next post.
